Danville has to have the most praying mantises per capita of any city in the world. I have to admit that I am not a bug lover, and the huge, scary mantis is my nemesis. Last year I had to scope out the porch each morning and have Logan come out and kill any mantises that were hanging about. It became kind of a joke because he smashed one on the porch post, and it's head was left after he disposed of the body. It was like Pirates of the Carribean, "Mantises ye beware!"
Anyway, I started noticing tiny mantises skulking about on my porch this week so I have become vigilant in smashing every one that I see. I feel as though the more I smash, the fewer will be left to torture me when they grow ginormous later in the summer.

My sweet precious angel
Asher has started "loving" us without any prompting, and it is the sweetest thing ever. Today he walked up to me and said, "Mommy hold (he's calling me mommy instead of mama now)". He crawled up on my lap and hugged me. He then reached up and put his hands on the sides of my face and kissed me on the lips. It was the best kiss ever!
His vocabulary is amazing, too. He says, "mommy boke gaccas" (broke glasses), and "meet you ma'am" (nice to meet you ma'am), and "i'uv you, mommy, daddy, gigi, etc." Two weeks ago he walked into the kitchen, pointed at the cabinet and said, "pine-opple" out of nowhere. I think he's probably had it twice in his life. He likes his toast with "jeddy and buddy" (jelly and butter). We still struggle with some words, like calling all food "gum" and water "habba". I told Logan a couple of weeks ago not to let him drink the water from the nasty pool, and now every time he refers to the pool he says, "natty pool".

blatantly rip off Chick fil A? I had a southern style sandwich today with its buttery bun, pickles, and spices and it tasted just like Chick fil A. I mean, there has to be some copyright infringement going on. It also annoys me that the ad says "Available all day long, even on Sunday." Chick fil A tries to do a nice thing for its employees by not opening on Sunday, and McDonald's is basically taking advantage of that. I think I've decided not to buy any more sandwiches from McD's to support Chick fil A.

Just a side note...
I absolutely love my J-Lo glasses, for all the money I paid they got the prescription exactly right (I think my last pair were a little too weak), and they are super comfortable. I must say stylish as well :)
Seriously, I hate Walmart
I know everyone says it, but I really mean it. When I become wealthy one day, I'm going to stop shopping there. Asher is like a ninja when snatching your glasses off your face, he looks at you out of the corner of his eye and reaches out at the speed of light. My poor glasses have been taking a beating and finally broke on Saturday. So on Sunday, I went to Walmart vision center to purchase some new ones. I thought it would be cheap and they were the only vision establishment that was open on Sunday. Since I am blind, I must wear my glasses and having them taped together is rather embarrassing.
So anyway, I find a pair of frames that I love and they are $150, a bit pricey, but Logan said to go for it because I wear them every day. When the lady rings me up, the glasses cost $263!!!! My lenses were $55 a piece. In Louisville, they weren't even $50 together. The lady, optician, I suppose, told me that glasses are really expensive in Danville, gee, ya think? So whatever, I have to have the glasses, so I grudgingly fork over the money and figure I'll wear them for the next 100 years.
So tonight I go on the internet to see if I can find the frames online and found them for $91. Yes, stupid Walmart is charging $60 more for the exact same frames. Not to mention that the lenses are only $48.50 TOGETHER, for a grand total of $136.50 plus shipping. This is why I hate Walmart and am kicking myself because I know better than to buy without shopping. I could have gotten two pairs of JLo glasses with their snazzy pink cases for the price I paid for one, grrrrr.

Thanks for all your emails, we do appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I got a call from my doctor today and my hcg has fallen to 18,000. This is "good" news, meaning my body is taking care of it on its own. I go in in a week, and probably will continue until my numbers are near zero. The prevailing theory is that the baby, if it was, was broken down by my body because it didn't have enough "stuff" to go through another pregnancy right away. We were warned by my doctor that this likely would happen if we got pregnant too soon. The other possibility is I had what is called a blighted ovum, the egg never develops at all.
We knew something was not right from the beginning, for those of you who know about my horrible pregnancy sickness, it just wasn't there this time. For the most part, I was able to function like a normal human being, not typical for me. I didn't have many other symptoms, either, so we were not shocked yesterday. The hard part is wondering if something is wrong with me, or if we just have had bad luck. It's not atypical to have two miscarriages in a row, especially if the second pregnancy follows too closely, so my doctor says it's not statistically significant until you have three in a row.

Sad news
Today we found out that I had suffered another miscarriage, this one a bit more mysterious than the first. For those that don't know the back story, I got pregnant unexpectedly in December and went in for an u/s at 10.5 weeks. The baby had stopped developing at 9.5 weeks, but I had no symptoms. Well, I was supposed to wait at least 2-3 cycles before conceiving again, but I got pregnant again unexpectedly after one month.
I was having issues throughout this pregnancy and finally went in for an u/s today as they seemed to be worsening. They couldn't find the baby, though my hcg levels were high enough for me to be pregnant. The best case scenario is the baby was reabsorbed because my body wasn't ready to carry it to term. The worst case scenario is that it is in my fallopian tube. I had blood tests done today and we should know which of the two by the end of the week. Please keep our family in your prayers as this is hard to go through two times in six months.
